2010 Outstanding Chapter Award


Eligibility

All MEISA chapters, with MEIEA affiliation, and in good standing, will be eligible to apply for the Outstanding Chapter Award.  A representative from the selected chapter must be present at MEISA General Meeting at the 2010 National MEIEA/MEISA Conference in Miami to accept the award.  All applications must be received through email by February 26, 2010.  Please send applications as an attachment to MEISA President Brittni Liyanage at president@meisa.org.

Application

Chapter activities:  Choose the most outstanding activity for each area and answer the questions pertaining to it.  Examples of activities for each area include:

A.    Professional:  Conferences, workshops, guest speakers, trade shows, tours, student-run businesses, etc.
B.    Performance:  Local Battle of the Bands, Singer-Songwriter competitions, campus concerts, music festivals, etc.
C.    Social:  Networking mixers, campus social activities, recreational activities, department functions, etc.
D.    Community:  Community service projects, music education awareness programs, Rock The Vote involvement, mentoring programs, etc.
 
Membership

A.  Recruitment:   Campus fairs, presentations, personal
recruitment, invitation letters, etc.
B.    Publicity/Promotion:  Campus emails, campus newspaper articles, flyers, posters, campus radio, etc.

Supporting documents:  Each chapter may include up to four supporting documents to their application.  These documents may include a link to the chapter website, or pictures or publicity from the events described in the application.  No more than four supporting documents will be accepted.

Certification:  The chapter president and advisor (MEIEA sponsor) should sign the certification page before the application is sent in for review.  This signed page should be scanned and emailed with the application.  If the chapter does not have access to a scanner, the advisor may email a statement of certification.
Application Review

All applications will be judged on the following categories:

1.  Chapter Activities                                 60 Points
    -Significance/Effect
    -Participation
    -Quantity/diversity of programs

2.  Membership                                25 Points
    -Activities to recruit members
    -Activities to promote/publicize MEISA

3.  Supporting Documents                            10 Points
    -Show activities described in application
    -Positively promote MEISA
    -Clear/professional

4.  Quality of Application                              5 Points
    -Neat/orderly application
    -Correct spelling and grammar
    -Application received by due date

Award

The applications will be reviewed and judged by the National MEISA Executive Board and committee, and the award will be presented to the selected MEISA chapter at the National MEISA Conference at the University of Miami. The award will be engraved with the selected chapter’s name, and the chapter will retain the title of “Outstanding MEISA Chapter” until the 2011 MEIEA/MEISA Conference.
