2010 MEISA Scholarship Guidelines

MEISA is pleased to offer its annual scholarship program.  Two outstanding MEISA members will be awarded scholarships of $250 each.

The application is due no later than 12:00 noon (Eastern Time) on February 26, 2010.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

•    MEISA member in good standing
•    Major or minor in Music Industry or related area
•    Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
•    A recommendation from a professor*
•    Maximum 1000 word essay addressing one of the two topics listed below

*The professor must teach a music business course essential to your music industry education.  This does not include core music or core business classes such as music theory or accounting.

Your essay should be a response to one of the two following questions:

1.    How are your experiences in MEISA preparing you for a future career in the music industry?
2.    Music industry degree programs are still relatively young, and the industry is changing faster than ever.  Success requires self-motivation and dedication. Excluding MEISA and classroom experiences, how are you preparing yourself for the reality of this very competitive business?

Applications should be emailed to MEISA secretary Jackie Bartolomi with the subject line reading: “Your Name: MEISA Scholarship.” Applicants should have their professor follow the same procedure when submitting their recommendation.

•    Applicants must be present at the second general MEISA session of the Miami National Conference in order to receive the scholarship.
•    Essays will be judged on the quality of content and writing.
•    Applicants must include the MEISA Scholarship application form with their essay.
•    The scholarship will be judged on a 100-point scale; 25 points for MEISA involvement, and 75 points for the essay.
